Acer Aspire V5-122P - Really slow, suggestions please

Hi everyone,

I have the following laptop from many years and it was running windows 8, however it was really really slow and I have just installed windows 10 with the hope that reinstalling the windows would make it work quicker, however it is still really really slow, I would say it is not really usable as it is so laggy even moving the mouse mouse.

It looks like it is just not powerful enough? I wanted to ask which windows would u recommend me to install on it so that it will work quicker ?

I have opened the task manager from curiosity and it was showing 99% for the CPU is being used, so probably it is because the CPU is really weak.

Any suggestions?

Acer Aspire V5-122P

CPU: AMD Dual Core A4-1250 (1.0 gHz)

Ram: 4GB DDR3

HDD:500GB

Thanks in advance.

    Hi V444nko,

My name is Troy and I am an Independent Advisor and Windows 10 Expert. I'll be glad to help you.

your PC is bellow the windows 10 system requirement. while windows 10 give better experience compare to other previous windows version. with the your laptops current specs you won't experience the same experience as compared to modern hardware. I suggest to just use windows 8.1 with that and do a clean format.

you can refer this link for information.

While you're at it I suggest to upgrade your laptop's HDD to use SSD instead. that was a cheap and great upgrade specially with old laptops. it will make your laptop feel snappy and super responsive. just last night I upgraded my 7yr old asus laptop with a kingston SSD for 20USD and now its very responsive. can boot in less than 1 minute.

you can refer to this link on guide an information on how to change your laptop to use SSD.
