An active drive I have been told is only for the MBR disks, I am using a GPT disk.

I just checked the option to set as active is greyed out.

For a long time I was only using windows update.  I am not an expert with the operating system.  I have already tried using the update tool.

I have tried almost every suggestion on the internet.

    Hi Pilsbury,

I'm Roshan V S, Independent advisor and a Windows user like you.

I appreciate you for providing details about the issue and we are happy to help you.

Can you check whether your C drive(what ever drive windows is installed) is marked as active. You can check that from going to disk management then right click on c drive then mark as active then restart your PC. After doing it go on with the update/upgrade process using windows media creation tool: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

Do get back to us with the result. We will be glad to help if you need further assistance.

    Best Regards

You are two versions behind. What happens when you try to update to the latest version 1903, any error messages etc. How do you try to update the version, suing windows update or the Media Creation Tool.

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 select Download tool now. When you run the tool select to update this PC now.
