Windows 10 Screenshots delayed and/or not capturing shots of what's directly on the screen?

As it says in the title, screenshots are extremely delayed and/or just not capturing what's directly on the monitor.

Snipping tool is off and no delay set, and I've tried Printscreen and Windows-Printscreen, both give the same result.

I'm trying to capture screenshots from games, but it always takes shots of the exit menus or other random screens, not what I'm actually looking at.

I have a gaming PC, Windows 10, and only one monitor.

I'm really confused by this. Any ideas?

When playing in fullscreen, I take a screenshot of something, pause the game, switch tabs, paste the shot into Discord, and it's taken a screenshot of the paused menu screen, instead of the exact moment I pressed the the button.

    It's driving me nuts.

I'll call microsoft in the morning I think, because I can't think of anything I could change to fix it.

    Thanks for the help though.

That's the thing, I don't really want to use the game bar, I'm aware of it I just want to know why Windows screenshot doesn't work any more.

I prefer to use Windows because I can literally paste straight into Reddit, Photoshop and Discord, and the game bar doesn't do that, it just saves them, which is a huge pain when you have a lot of items to post, and multiple shots to paste together.

If it's broken that's fine, or if there are settings screwed up I'll fix them. But surely it should be working.

    Hi HijikataX,

since you are trying to screen capture game screenshot may I suggest how about using Fraps. it is safe and used mostly by gaming community

    https://www.fraps.com/download.php

you can just run fraps in background then configure a hotkey for screen / video capturing.

    check this guide for instructions.

What OS build are you on?  Hit the Windows key, type winver, hit Enter.

    Or Windows key+r, winver, OK
