Can anyone tell me what this folder is used for?

Here's the filepath:

C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\PlaceholderTileLogoFolder

Unrelated question:  I get the BSOD about once per week at odd times.  Lenovo X1 Carbon Thinkpad purchased about a year ago.

Thanks for any feedback you can give!

Yes it seems to be a potentially dangerous file.As Brian says, sites on google seem unreliable. As well as their proposed software.

So I would suggest you scan with them first.

    https://www.malwarebytes.com/

    and

    https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/

    And a good anti-virus.

According to many web sites I've seen, this folder/file is part of a potentially unwanted program. That said, none of the pages I saw (and I visited about 25) was something I would truly trust as being a good source of information. Perhaps someone else will be able to be more definitive.
