Can we archive private teams in teams?

I have archived a private team but it is not reflecting and its not putting all docs in read only mode or may be is there any limitation for same or how we can do that?

    Yes, you can archive private teams. When you archive teams, please remember to check the box of Make the SharePoint site read-only for teams members.

    There is a note that team owners can still make changes to the files in archive teams. For members, they have read-only access to the files in archive team. This should be the reason for your situation.
