Windows 10 MBR Error 1

I really need help!  My machine was running slow so I rebooted it.  It now won't start and I get an MBR Error 1 message.  I can get to the setup and it passed the diagnostic tests but it still won't start.  If I go to the boot menu but am not sure of the order for booting.  There is a recovery option in the setup menu but I was trying not to delete all my applications.  I do have a backup of the data.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi nmcampb

An MBR error indicates there is a problem with the file system on your hard drive

Start your PC, just as Windows attempts to load (spinning dots), press and hold Power Button for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a Hard Shut Down

    Do this twice

On the third start Windows will boot into the Recovery Environment and from there you can access System Repair, Safe Mode, Command Prompt . . . etc.

    Choose Command Prompt

Run this command and hit Enter:

    bootrec.exe /fixmbr

Then when that completes, restart to see if your PC will boot

If you cannot get into the Recovery Environment, you will need Windows 10 Installation media and use that to get into the recovery Environment by choosing 'Repair this Computer'

Then go into Command Prompt and run that command . . ..

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.  I read in one of the comments that the boot order may have changed so I went in and changed the order so that the Hard Drive, SATA 0 was first.  I had a SATA 1 and 0.  Don't know how it might have got changed but this seems to have fixed it, at least it starts properly.  Are there any problems with doing this?

    Hi nmcampb

There is absolutely no problem doing that, it just redirects your PC to boot form the other SATA port, well done, I am glad this is resolved . . .
