I recently was advised to upgrade my application for FTR to v6.5 due to the upcoming Windows 10 1903 upgrade. I did so. The install wizard uninstalled v6.2, then commenced installing 6.5 when i received the Access denied pop up. I have no idea how to fix this. Can anyone help?

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

For further clarity on the issue, please respond to the questions below.

    1. How are you trying to upgrade the application?
    2. Which application are you using?
    3. Where did you download the application?

Usually, the error 0x80070005 is related to permissions while performing a task. Let’s try some troubleshooting steps and see if we can fix the issue.

    Method 1:

Make sure you are logged in as an administrator and then you are trying to update the application.

    Method 2:

Try running the application with administrator permissions and see if that helps.

    • Right click on the application and select Run as administrator.

    Method 3:

Try upgrading the application using the built-in administrator and see if the issue persists.

    1. Press Windows + S key together to open Search.
    2. Now type CMD and select Run as administrator.
    3. Accept the UAC prompts.
    4. Type in the following commands one by one and hit Enter: net user administrator /active:yes

Let us know how it goes.

i ended up hitting ignore about four times on the old version (which had been uninstalled by the installation wizard) which allowed it to work; and then the next day that wouldn't work either so I checked through my windows 10 updates, there were a couple of updates for v1903 that i thought might have been important for the running of the new version of the software, i installed them and bingo, was able to install the new version of the software, prior to the windows 10 v1911 upgrade. Thank you for attempting to help. It turns out it was probably an  incomplete installation of v1903 that caused the problem.

    Many thanks.
