Hi Greg,
Unfortunately the repair installation couldn't fix it. I'm starting to think this might be a hardware issue after all. I'll try a clean installation and see if that helps, otherwise it'll be a trip to the repair center.

Hi,
I have Lenovo y50-70 laptop and all three USB ports (2 x USB 3.0, 1 x USB 2.0) stopped working 3 days ago. So far I have tried everything I could find on the internet - updating drivers, enabling/disabling the ports, troubleshooting, scans for hardware change etc. but nothing has worked so far. Also, I haven't installed or changed anything recently that could cause the issue. It just happened when I turned my laptop on after a 2-day journey, prior to which everything was working perfectly.
I'm on Windows 10 version 1903 (build 18362.446)
Note: when I plug my external keyboard in, it lights up after a minute or so, not instantly as it did before. Thought this might help.

No that'll be all. I just wanted to make sure that I don't lose anything. I'll let you know if the repair installation fix the issue. Thanks.
Please read what I wrote about a Repair Install above. It clearly says that it saves your files, apps and most settings in place.
Did you have any other questions that I didn't answer in my original post or that were unclear?
Keep me posted on your progress as I will be here to help until the case is resolved.
Hi Greg,
Thank you for taking the time to answer this. I tried all the steps but none worked, so I guess I'll have to perform a repair installation after all. However, I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep my applications that are installed in C drive. I'll be grateful if you could clarify that for me. I would go for a clean install usually but I don't want to lose my work-related softwares as I have an ongoing project right now.
Hi Anuran. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 year Windows MVP, and Volunteer Guardian Moderator here to help you.
I'll give you everything possible to try for USB dysfunction which we see a lot here:
If your keyboard and mouse are USB, first program the power button to effect the needed restart after Rolling back or uninstalling the driver. Go to Settings > System > Power & Sleep > Additional Power Settings > Choose what Power buttons do to choose Shutdown.
If that doesn't help then plug the external into another PC to see if it is detected, if so copy the files out to a folder on Desktop, return it to problem PC to Delete in Disk Mgmt and reformat as shown here:
http://www.wikihow.com/Format-an-External-Hard-...
Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 16 to test a new Local Admin account. Then continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.
You can also use System Restore to get before the problem began, then check for Updates with the Hide Update tool and hide them: http://home.bt.com/tech-gadgets/computing/how-t...
If this was caused by a Version Update then you can roll it in Settings>Update & Security>Recovery and then hide it until it matures using the Hide Updates Tool downloaded from here: http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/2/2/f2...
But remember that in Windows 10 everything depends upon the quality of the install, and Factory or Upgrade installs are inferior installs which most enthusiasts won't even run because they'd expect endless issues. Consider now or later doing the Clean Install in this link which compiles the best possible install that will stay that way as long as you stick with the tools and methods given: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...
There is also an automated Fresh Start that reinstalls WIndows while shedding corrupting factory bloatware, saves your files, but doesn't clear the drive to get it cleanest: https://www.howtogeek.com/265054/how-to-easily-...
I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. If you'll wait to rate whether my post helped you, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
