Can't install windows 10, all drivers are MBR not GPT

I was trying to install Windows 10 from a USB flash driver I made with " creation media tool ".

At first I was trying to format the C drive but got an error after the C was already formated that it was MBR and GPT so windows cannot be installed.

Attempting to use the " mbr2gpt" commands didn't work. And the line before the commands was " x:sources >" instead of "x:windows/system32 " as it appeared with others.

How can I install windows again?

They can create a Virtual Windows and recover your data.

Hi,

Your HDD needs to be a "MBR" drive for regular Legacy Bios operation and of the "GPT" for "UEFI" Bios..

Windows will do this for you automatically if doing a Custom Install and deleting all existing partitions on the HDD first..

There is a prerequisite.. The installation media must be configured properly and the proper boot device must be selected.. You have mentioned the Legacy and UEFI in the boot menu..

At times you also need to select Legacy (Normal Flash Drive), or UEFI Flash Drive.. If you make the wrong selection the installation will fail, or you will end up with the wrong configuration..

Based on your first description, my guess would be that if you select the "Normal" Flash Drive you should be good to go... The Create Media process creates a hybrid flash drive that should work on both Legacy and UEFI machines, but is configured in a way that it may boot as a UEFI drive by default with a lot of machines because of the way it is detected by the Bios.....

I am not sure if my system supports it or not but I found it as a choice in the boot menu

    ( Legacy or UEFI ).

Does my disk drive have to be MBR to install Windows?

And if so is there a way to convert the drives to without losing any data?

The biggest question here is, does your system support UEFI or are you limited to the older Legacy installs?

If you don't know, use Disk Management to see what partitions are already on the drive.  If you have a EFI System partition then it is UEFI.

    Hi, NohaShamel

My name is Jeffrey and I am an Independent Advisor. I would be happy to help you today.

If you have problems booting from a boot disk, you may have UEFI BIOS:

Insert the boot installation media, then enter the BIOS and make the following changes:

    1. Disable Secure Boot
    2. Enable Legacy Boot
    3. If Available enable CSM
    4. If Required enable USB Boot
    5. Move the device with the bootable disc to the top of the boot order
    6. Save BIOS changes, restart your System and it should boot from the Installation Media
