Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.
I understand that you are facing issues with the master Volume Control option in the Taskbar. I see that you have performed troubleshooting steps and I appreciate your efforts and letting us know the steps tried.
It is very unusual the audio level does not respond with the Master Volume slider. We will certainly look into this issue for you.
Let us try a few steps and check.
Method 1: Restart Windows Explorer.
- Right click on Taskbar and click on Task Manager. This should open Task Manger console.
- Click on Details tab, look for explorer.exe.
- Right click on explorer.exe and click on End Task.
- The desktop will go blank and you should still have Task Manager on the screen.
- Click on File>>Run new task.
- Type explorer.exe and click on OK.
- Play an audio file and check if the Volume Bar changes take effect.
Method 2: Check Windows Audio service.
- Click on Search in Taskbar and type services.msc
- Click on Services. In the list look for Windows Audio service.
- Right click on Windows Audio service and select Restart.
- If issue persists, double click on Windows Audio service and make sure the service is set to Automatic.
- Click on Logon tab and select the option “Allow service to interact with desktop”.
- Click on OK.
Method 3: Install generic drivers manually
- Click on Search on Taskbar and type Device Manager.
- In Device Manager, expand Sound, Video, and Game Controllers
- Right click on the Realtek Audioand select Update Driver.
- Select the option Browse my computer for Driver Software.
- In the next screen, select the option Let me pick from a list of available drivers
- Check the box Show Compatible Hardware and then select the option High Definition Audio Device. Click on Yes if you get the prompt.
- Check if you are able to change volume level using the slider.
If issue persists, please let us know the following information:
- What is the version of Windows installed on the computer? You can click on Search and type Winver.
- Do you have multiple output devices(speaker/headphones) connected to the computer?
