The error may actually be quite new for being due to the SHA-2 code signing change. Also, when Defender is affected, other more recent updates are, too. The error just may not persist very long after reinstalling because one round of checking for updates will install KB4474419.

So it is not OK to address code 0x800b0109 in Windows Update because Windows Defender may be a beneficiary?

Bill, you don't want Defender to show error code 0x800b0109 because you don't want anything to show it.
