I'm looking to change the directory paths of User Shell Folders (ex: documents, favorites).
I know I can do this easily by right clicking and going to properties. But I'd like to automate this process.
I found that there are registry values to each that can be modified:
This is great, but I realized there are missing folders.
Folders such as Contacts, Searches, and SavedGames don't seem to be there.
Is this because these registry keys need to be created or are they stored elsewhere?
Thanks

Oop, looks like I was slightly mistaken, I want to make sure I'm not spreading incorrect information.
The Shell Folders key is a "legacy" key. If you look at the frist value under that key, its name is: "!Do not use this registry key" .
There is a Favorites value under User Shell Folders. For the other folders, they are only created when the folders are relocated. For instance, if you relocate Contacts, a value named {56784854-C6CB-462B-8169-88E350ACB882} will be created. Others, like Screenshots, only need explicit redirection if they are no longer a subfolder of Pictures. Here's a list extracted from the FolderDescriptions key under HKLM...\Explorer:

Interesting, I also see that when HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders is entered, it directs to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
so there's a \User Shell Folders and \Shell Folders in the same hive.
Would the changes to the registry value in one location be reflected in the other? Or would both need to be modified?
So should I modify the registeries here for such things as desktop, documents, pictures, etc...
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
HKCU is the same hive as HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
Thanks for that Frederik.
So I noticed that both registry locations contain the folders desktop, documents, pictures, etc... on top of the missing ones from:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
So should I modify the registeries here for such things as desktop, documents, pictures, etc...
