Power Icon Missing: System Icon Greyed out - Windows 10

I recently updated my computer, now my power Icon is missing and I can't turn it back on because it is grey'ed out.

Last Answer Avail on Community Forum from 2017 did not restore the option to turn it back on;

Hi Katrina,

The system icon may have encountered a corruption that caused this issue. For us to help you with this concern, we suggest that you try to restart the Windows Explorer process to refresh the taskbar icons. Kindly follow the steps below:

  1. On your keyboard, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and select Task Manager.
  2. On theProcesses tab, look for the Windows Explorer process and select it.

User Reply; Process Tab does not Inc an option to Select Windows Explorer

  1. Click the Restart button at the bottom right corner of the Task Manager window.

User Reply; Therefore no way to select a Restart at the bottom Right

  1. After the Windows Explorer process has been restarted, check the notification area on the taskbar and see if the battery icon is visible.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Hi David

    This seems to be a bug in Windows 10, this fix generally resolves it:

    Open Device Manager (accessible by right clicking your Start Button)

    Expand the Batteries section

    For each device in that section:

    Right click and choose Disable

    Then right click and choose Enable

    Close Device Manager
