USB headset driver now "Lync Audio" not "Logitech," but no sound

I have a Logitech USB headset that had been working fine until we went on vacation in December; Windows 10 64 bit on two machines, multiple USB jacks, it all worked great.  Came back from vacation, and Windows now says that instead of that device being a "Logitech headset" it is a "Lync Audio Device (Headset earphone)", and NO sound output occurs.

I've tried it on two machines, multiple USB ports (on the laptops, on docking stations, on monitors), and.... no sound output.  Microphone is detected and used by Skype just fine, but, no sound output.

Help?

thanks!

This happened to my Windows 7 corporate build just this week.  It has been a Logitech USB Headset for years, and suddenly WIndows calls it a "Lync Audio Device"?  WTH? I don't use Lync!!!!  And making a new name for lack of sound might as well call it a "Silent useless Audio Device".  No need to make Lync the scapegoat for "Silent Useless" product updates for Windows.  That is entirely on the Windows team.

Give me back my headset.  I think I was robbed in the middle of the night.

I'm sorry, but could you explain a bit please?

I'm not sure how generating an installation / upgrade media is going to solve the problem of why a specific USB device (Logitech USB headset) now shows up as "Lync Audio." Using that media to then rebuild an entire system, for what seems to be one device driver issue, seems extreme.

    Thanks.

You need to use the Media Creation Tool and Upgrade.

What OS build are you on?  Hit the Windows key, type winver, hit Enter.

    Or Windows key+r, winver, OK
