Intel 4600 Graphics doesn't seem to be working

I recently upgraded from Windows 7 -> 10.

I had a 2 monitor setup, one connected to Intel 4600 through HDMI, one through DVI on my NVIDIA.

Everything seemed to work, my NVIDIA works fine, except my other monitor was off.

So I've been scouring the forums and trying various methods, nothing seems to work. All I get is "No Signal" on the monitor.

  • Tried various drivers (from older 2015 ones to the most recent one published 1/10/2020).
  • I uninstalled all drivers (including NVIDIA) then reinstalled.
  • Disabled Intel in Device Manager, then reenabled.
  • Clicked the Detect Monitors Button in Displays.
  • Windows + P forced it to cast to duplicate or extend (creates a buggy non-existant 1024x768 monitor).
  • In NVIDIA Panel Ticked the Rigorous detect monitor box then restarted.
  • Tested my HDMI Cable against another computer, tested the monitor against another computer. Works.
  • Tested another Monitor against the HDMI port on computer.
  • Tested various combinations of the two monitors unplugged at startup.

This is all fairly frustrating because everything almost works and I don't think it's related to the upgrade itself but just something about Windows 10.

For example, I noticed if I don't have a monitor plugged in at start, it just never turns on at all afterwards (found this out testing the last bullet point).

About to just give up on Win 10, downloading Ubuntu currently, sigh...

Did you try everything suggested because those are the only things I found that might be able to make it work in Windows 10? If so then you've tried your best.

Let me know if there's anything else.

So besides the Sayan Mallick post above about how to use dual adapters for dual monitors, see also these as one of them will often apply:

Hi Kobold. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 year Windows MVP, and Volunteer Moderator here to help you.

Normally with Intel-Nvidia dual graphics it is designed to be one or the other, not both at the same time. See more about this here:

    https://www.quora.com/Why-do-laptops-have-two-g...

See the post by Sayan Mallick which explains rare cases where both adapters can be used together.

Also see here more about how Nvidia Switchable Graphics works to see if it applies to your config:

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

Ahhh thanks for the videos and links. I'm a doofus. Of course it shouldn't work. Win7 must have been doing some weird loop to make it work.

This worked in my Windows 7 setup. I'm not using the laptop dual features. I'm on a 2014 Haswell custom built desktop, Nvidia card is gtx760.
