System requirements to install Win 8.1

Presently I have Win 7, can't afford Win 10 right now; want to install Win 8.1.

I have an HP h8-1160t; Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit; Intel Core i7-2660 CPU @ 3.40GHz; 16GB RAM; DirectX 11; AMD Radeon HD 6570 with Driver Model WDDM 1.1

The requirements to install Win 8.1 says the Graphics card should Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver.

Will the components that are presently on my machine accept an Win 8.1 installation? I'm wondering about the DirectX Graphics device. Plan to buy a DVD for the project.

Thanks for your time in advance!

After checking all your computers specifications out on HP`s Site it does support Windows 8.

    https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-hpe-h8-1100-desktop-pc-series/5146418/model/5155343

The Graphics are supported by HP for Win 8 in relations to DX and WDDM.

This computer could run Windows 10 as well even though they do not support Win 10 on their HP Help and Support ( Drivers and Downloads ) page.

Only attempt this if you are a tinkerer as there usually are issue that crop up in relation to finding a appropriate Driver for a particular Chip-set which is integrated with the Motherboard.

Caveats being that the original installed software relate to HP and other software may not be compatible with Win 10.

Graphic Card is compatible with Win 10 64 Bit from the AMD Download and Support Site.

    https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics/amd-radeon-hd/amd-radeon-hd-6000-series/amd-radeon-hd-6570

If a TV Tuner is installed it may no longer be compatible and or function.

The IDT Audio 92HD89E Driver may also be a problem.

With that, ..... one would probably have to run the Win 8 Driver for it if Win 10 does not have a supportive driver in its installation data base.

The same would possibly apply to the Intel H67 Chipset.

The Integrated LAN Realtek  RTL8111E does support Win 10.

Hope this helps a little as to information.

Support for 8 ended in Jan, 2016.

Extended Support for 8.1 ends in 2023.

But first check if your computer manufacturer supports and supplies 8.1 drivers for your exact model number:

    Also:

    "Windows 8.1 system requirements"

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/system-requirements

Windows 8/8.1 does not come for free; you have to buy it

    Microsoft no longer sells 8/8.1.

    Try amazon.com, etc.

    Warning:

You do not buy a Product Key by itself, as they are normally stolen/pirated, Volume Licenses which are not for private use, or MSDN keys which are not to be sold by the original subscription holder.

Make sure that you buy the complete sealed package (DVD, license)

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/howtotell/Shop.aspx

Read Section: Beware of Product Keys sold separately.
