Hi,

I have my work pc harddrive home to try to connect to my laptop, I've been given an hdmi cable and an ethernet cable which are both connected how I was instructed but my laptop isn't detecting the harddrive. I can't find it anywhere.

Any advice where to look for it or do I need to do something to my laptop for it to show? According to work I should just be able to plug it in and start straightaway.

Thank you!

    Hi,

This is Wil, one of the independent advisor and an expert with Windows 10.

I understand your concern about connecting your hard drive to your laptop.

HDMI cable are used to transport audio and video signal while USB cables transport data. If you wish to connect your hard drive to the laptop, it needs to be done using a USB cable depending on the hard drive that you have. Can you please provide me a picture of your hard drive so I can see the ports on it like the one on the picture below.

I hope that you can reply back as quickly as possible so I can help you out further. Have a nice day.

    Thanks,

    Wilfred P.
