Hi

I am not able to open Network and Sharing center, when I click on Network and Sharing center from control panel, control panel freezes. I am stuck with an hour glass, cannot close control panel when clicking on the X, cannot open any other programs in control panel when control panel is froze. I have to right click on control panel Icon in task bar and select close to close it. I can open other programs in control panel with out control panel freezing. I have tried restarting my computer, n/c. I also tried going through settings and trying to open Change adapter options, does not open.

I checked event viewer, no problems there. Problem just started after update.

I am part of Windows Insider Program and just installed new updates today. 2020-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 2004 for x64-based Systems (KB4552455)

    Hello

I am Sidney, an independent advisor, and also a customer just like you. I will try to help you resolving your issue.

According to the informations you have said, it looks like there is an issue there indeed. Could you please try to run the following procedure in order to look up for any corruption the Windows FileSystem ?

1- Open the Command prompt as administrator, this can be done by searching "cmd" on windows and then right clicking and selecting "run as administrator".

    2- Type in

    sfc /scannow

I believe it prevents you from opening this Network and Sharing center

    Best,

    Sidney

I am sorry that it did not work. I performed more research, and according to the information you provided (especially: << Problem just started after update. >> ), I invite you to rollback your last update.

It should fix the issue, until the next update that will hopefully fix this issue of yours :)

The guide to do so is here:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-US/help/12415/...

Under << Go back to your previous version of Windows >>

I hope this will work :)

That was a quick reply, looking in event viewer today, found a lot of applications errors; Error    3/30/2020 9:48:02 PM    CAPI2    256    None    The Cryptographic Services service failed to initialize the Catalog Database. The error was: -2147418113 (0x8000ffff) : Catastrophic failure. Also going back to January I have errors Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error calling routine QueryFullProcessImageNameW.  hr = 0x80070006, The handle is invalid. The service is running and set to manual.

Might be time to test hard drive. Spinning  drive, not SSD.

Thank you for your reply. I ran sfc /scannow and chkdsk /r, both no problems found.
