    Hi Michael!

In this case, please try the following to enter the Windows Recovery Environment (winRE).

To do this, you will repeatedly turn your device off, then on:

    1. Hold down the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device.
    2. Press the power button again to turn on your device.
    3. On the first sign that Windows has started (for example, some devices show the manufacturer’s logo when restarting) hold down the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device.
    4. Press the power button again to turn on your device.
    5. When Windows restarts, hold down the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device.
    6. Press the power button again to turn on your device.
    7. Allow your device to fully restart. You will enter winRE.

This is the blue screen as shown in the attached image (Image source is from the Microsoft article), and would also be the same area as the above instructions.

After your device restarts, you'll see the list where you can choose 4 for Safe Mode, 5 is Safe Mode with Networking.

Let us know how it turns out!

    Hi Michael,

I am an independent advisor and a Microsoft user like you, and I would be happy to help you out with this.

Are you still able to access your computer and log in to the desktop?

From the Start menu, if you go to the Power options, then hold down Shift on your keyboard while selecting Restart, this will allow you to choose to boot into Safe Mode, as well as other recovery options.

Typically when the blue screen comes up, it will say Choose an option, then click on Troubleshoot > Advanced > Startup Settings > Restart

When it restarts, on the keyboard, 4 is Safe Mode, 5 is Safe Mode with Networking.

The option to Reset the PC is also within the Troubleshoot screen.

I hope this has helped you. If this is not what you are looking for, please reply and let us know and we would be happy to look into providing some different suggestions!

    Regards,

    -Ashton
