When i plug in my PlayStation 4 controller it starts charging but when i check device manager it does not appear there, i have tried restarting, and changing the usb ports/cables but nothing works. I am trying to use it with PS Now and that requires wired or wireless(using a $70 adapter that i refuse to buy) and the app does not support direct bluetooth from the computer. I have been trying to fix it myself for multiple days.
To anyone who finds this, i was having similar issues recently. After trying several different things, I was able to eventually get my computer to detect the DS4. In my case, the micro USB cable was the problem. As in I found a dozen micro USB cables lying around the house from various devices, and only with two of them was the PC able to detect the controller.
All of the cables were capable of charging the DS4, but only two were actually usable for connecting. I didn’t know that this was a thing, but either from quality or who knows what, only some cables will work for this.
As a follow up, I also tested all those cables with the PS4 as well. I observed the same behavior. Only the two that provided a connection to the PC were able to be used for syncing the DS4 to the PS4.
I don’t believe that any of the cables in question were the one that came with the PS4 originally, and I know for certain that the two that work are not that original cable.
Good luck.
