My PC restarts automatically after shutdown.

whenever I shutdown my Pc, it comes back on automatically. I have followed a Windows Advisor's instruction by Unticking the check box for Pc to restart after system failure. But it didn't work. I really need help. And this makes my Pc battery drain faster than usual.

Thanks

    Hi member,

I’m Rey, your Windows 10 Advisor.

I understand you are having trouble with the shutdown which restarts your pc instead. Let me help you with that.

    Check and follow these steps:

    1. Press the Windows key and the R key to open the Run search box.
    2. Type in control, click on OK.
    3. Select Power options. in the upper left portion select Choose what the power buttons do. Then click on Change settings that are currently unavailable.
    4. Under Shutdown settings remove the check for the box to Fast turn on fast startup (Recommended).
    5. Click on Save changes.

IF this will not solve it, next will be below:

    1. Press Win+R, type in regedit and hit Enter to open the Registry Editor.
    2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Control > SessionManager > Power.
    3. Set the value of HiberbootEnabled to 0.

    Lastly, do this:

    1. Go into my computer right click properties

    then get into device manager.

    1. Under network, adapters find your driver right click and make sure that under power management tab you unclick let device start-up computer.

I believe that these steps will help you solve this issue you have. If not, kindly contact me and let me know.

    Hi again Dcush,

For the third option, other ways to do it is click the Start button and type or search Device manager. Once you have the device manager window, and select Network adapter, and right-click on the network adapter you are using; either the LAN or Wifi driver, then right-click and select Properties. You'll see the power management tab and uncheck this option from there.

    Regards,

Thank you very much. I appreciate the self-explanatory efforts.

It seemed to work pretty just fine.

First, what I did was to follow the first option about the power management. I unticked the box and saved the change and I shut it down, it seemed to have worked but I went to reverse the settings because leaving the box checked is windows default settings and you also recommended it.

Then I followed the second option about the HiberBoot Enabler. I set the value to 0

For the third option, I need a little help. I could not understand it much. Can you help me out on how to go about the power management?

I think that is what is sucking up my battery juice so fast.

    Thanks a lot!
