No you don't need it, but removing it can uninstall your DIsplay driver. Then you should reinstall it without the manager to avoid having it.
But instead just make sure it's turned off at Startup along with all other driver extra software that doesn't need to be starting with Windows. Only WIndows needs to start with WIndows, and maybe your Sync, a printer's scanner to be on standby to scan from printer top, and Defender tray icon. Turn off all the rest like Catalyst in all the locations they hide following Option 4 in this checklist:
