Help!

I need to install Duo on my Windows laptop to be able to work from home.  It is downloaded from the correct location, however because the app is not on the Microsoft App store I cannot install it.

Any ideas?

are you logged on as an administrator?

do you see the User Access Control warning during the install, this can pop up behind other open windows.

try running the installation as administrator

(right click on the downloaded file and select run as administrator)

once installed, when you run it, it appears to do nothing but puts an icon in the system tray and scans the computer, which can take a while.

    Hi Dave__B

is your computer running windows 10 in S-mode?

check in settings -> system -> about

under windows specifications, is S-mode mentioned?

if so you will need to switch out of s-mode before you will be able to install apps that are not offered in the store.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/402008...

if it is not in smode

check settings -> apps -> apps -> apps & features

under "choose where to get apps"

    select "anywhere"

hope that helps, please let me know if you need further information.

    is there any error message.

can you give the link that you are downloading from, i will try it on mine

i don't think it a PICNIC error, it may be a damaged or incompatible installation file.

Thank you.  I have followed your steps, and can confirm the following:

    1. "Apps from Anywhere" is active
    2. "S-Mode" does not appear to be (it is not listed)
    3. Despite deleting the installation file and redownloading it, I still cannot install the app.  It follows the same initial steps (Preparing to install and configuring), however it then gives up.

Is this a PICNIC error, or is there something else I may need to do?
