how to quick format a CD

I have 14 CDs that I need to re-format. I'd like to use quick format, and that option appears on the Format options, but it will not allow me to check on it. I know erase is a lot faster, but for legal reasons (don't ask LOL) that is not acceptable.

Thanks for you help.

Most legal practices would shred a cd (in a cd shredder) a disk in little pieces cannot be read - the data cannot be recovered.

with the right software, data CAN be recovered from a disk that has been quick formatted (any disk) - this is NOT sufficient for disposing of sensitive data.

a quick format does not erase the data. it just clears the information that keeps track of the files.

"Are you saying quick format is not available?" i didn't, but you are correct, you cannot quick format a CD or DVD

@Martmcd**i didn't [say a quick is not available], but you are correct, you cannot quick format a CD or DVD

I'm only interested in doing what the other party is telling me they want me to do. I'm not here to pass judgement on whether that is legally or technically  the best way to do it. I wanted to know whether quick format of a CD is possible. Now I know.

Thing is (as I said for legal reasons) I need to format the discs. Breaking them into pieces isn't an option. Are you saying quick format is not available?

And yes, I know how little CDs cost.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi SweetTasha

if the CDs contain sensitive data, a quick format is not sufficient either, with the right software the data can be recovered.

CDs are cheap, the quickest and safest method is to destroy the disks

    break them up
