Lenovo laptop turning itself off after exactly 3 minutes.

Hello,

I have recently updated my laptop to the newest version of Windows.

Since i updated it, if i leave it idle for 3 minutes, it automatically shuts itself off completely, however all apps remain running.

I checked every power saving function, all of them are turned off, the laptop is always plugged in, and it still shuts itself off.

However, if i run it on an external battery, it does not shut itself off.

I need to run any program that's working in the backround, so that it will not shut off.

Best regards,

Wolf Mark

Hi Wolf Mark

1

Right click the battery icon on your Taskbar, choose Power Options

On the left, click 'Choose what the power buttons do'

At the top right, click 'Change settings that are currently unavailable'

Under 'Shutdown settings' disable 'Turn on fast startup'

Save that and close Control Panel

2

Open Device Manager (accessible by right clicking your Start Button)

Expand the Batteries section

For each device in that section:

Right click and choose Uninstall

Shut your laptop down

Disconnect the power adapter

If you can, remove the battery from your laptop

Press and hold the Power button on your laptop for 30 seconds

Re-insert the battery, if you removed it

Re-connect the power adapter

Restart (not shut down) on your laptop

    Hi Dave,

Thank you for your fast response!

The first solution did not work, the second did work, although the laptop did not wanted to start, just after multiple tries.

The laptop now does not shut off, but it takes more than a minute to boot, instead of under 20 seconds, but this is just a minor problem.

    Kind regards,

    Wolf Mark
