What is Program Files>WindowsApps>Deleted for? Can I get rid of it?

I have limited drive space on my work laptop and I want to get rid of this or at least reduce its size. How can I accomplish this? As much as I would like to buy a larger drive, that is not really an option at the moment.

    Hi Wil,

I just tried disk cleanup, and have uninstalled every program I am not using but the "Deleted" folder is still there and its size hasn't changed at all (still 20GB or so). Is there anything else I can try?

    Regards,

    sg113

EDIT: I just noticed, the file has gotten bigger

Thank you for providing a screenshot. The deleted folder under the WindowsApps is a temporary destination for Apps that you uninstalled. You may try to delete the content of the Deleted folder but if you would encounter permission issue, it means that these files should not be deleted.

    Hi sg113,

This is Wil, one of the independent advisor, an expert with Windows 10 and a fellow Windows 10 user like you. I understand your concern about deleting a file or folder under WIndowsApps.

We would actually not recommend deleting any folder or files under WindowsApps as it could mess up how your Apps works. If you want to free up hard disk space, the safest way to do it is to uninstall any unused applications on it or perform a disk cleanup. Disk cleanup will help you free up hard disk space by deleting non-essential files on your hard disk such as Windows update installation files, temp files, log files, previous OS installations and recycle bin files. Instruction on how to disk cleanup in on this link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/402661...

I hope my suggestions help you. If you need further assistance please do reply back and I will respond as quickly as possible. Have a nice day.

    Thanks,

    Wilfred P.
