Popping noise through speakers from a new HP Desktop

I have a new HP desktop that produces a popping noise through the speakers. I have used different speakers, and performed the HP troubleshooting steps and I still have the problem. The noise happens randomly, every 15 minutes or so. The computer was replaced with a new one, and I still have the popping. It does not pop with a bluetooth speaker and it doesn't pop when playing a CD. HP support has not helped at all. Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Herman,

Success! I installed the 6.0.6.7667 driver and the popping noise is gone. I had to go into the Realtek Audio Manager (Control Panel) to re-activate the headphone jack. Everything seems fine. I had first installed the video driver from AMD, but it looks like they added a lot of programs to the system. Since I had also tried so many drivers, etc (before I contacted you), I think I'm going to do a reset of Windows to clean out the extraneous apps. Then I'll reinstall the 6.0.6.7667 driver. Hopefully, then I can begin to enjoy the computer!

I used to be a mainframe developer/manager, and I think you are one of the best analysts I have ever known. You are excellent. You spent so much time and effort on my problem! Is there someway I can express my gratitude to Microsoft management? Also, it would be nice if I could rely on you again for any future problems! If you don't mind and if you are on LinkedIn, I'll send you an invitation. Thanks again for all of your help!

    Dave

Hi Herman - I just don't know how to install from these .cab files. I found a driver (6.0.8787.1 Rev A) from HP support. I installed it and everything worked fine until I re-started the pc and the popping started again.

Hi There, I could get you the driver link, but i would make a 100% sure its safe for you, although it would not be on the microsoft website itself.

I'm really so sorry and was not aware that its a bunch of random .cab files which is hosted on microsofts website. Would you like me to find you a installation file of the driver which i was originally referring to? Im sure if the driver would be properly installed it would either solve your problem completely or alternatively rule out driver. (But im pretty convinced it would work and sort out your popping noise sound.)

That is correct. The only logical scenario that makes sense after its a different pc different speakers and both being hp is that the previous ones drivers would have also been the same version. So the issue is most likely with realteks newer drivers. I know for a fact that that drivers are working as im using them myself on a dell.

    From Device Manager.

    A. "Under Audio inputs and outputs":

Speakers - provided by Microsoft 10.0.18362.1

B Under "Sound, video and game controllers":

AMD High Definition Audio Device - provided by AMD 10.0.1.12

Insignia - provided by Realtek 1.1.137.3

Realtek Audio - provided by Realtek 6.0.8838.1

I don't know which driver is involved. Thanks so much for your help.

I suspect the biggest possible driver giving issues might be your reatek drivers as I noticed you are using the latest one. Try and install the 2nd latest realtek drivers from Microsofts website: http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=hdaudio%5Cfunc\_01%26ven\_10ec%26dev\_0889 The version 6.0.1.7465 of the Realtek Drivers might most probably do the trick.

Also make sure your Graphics drivers are up to date by downloading the latest graphics drivers from AMD's website.

Please let me know whether this has worked. Thanks

Have you tried making sure the settings are correct in Control Panel - Sound - Right Click on your Speakers -  Click on Properties againn - Go to enhancements - Disable all enhancements and make sure any other enhancements are disabled..... And see whether that wouldn't have sorted out your problem.
