FIXED by installing the updated Displaylink drivers (not packaged with the ASUS driver).
Portable USB3 monitor (ASUS MB16AC) no longer connecting to laptop (ASUS VivoBook S15)
Hi,
I have been able to connect my portable monitor to my laptop in the past without problems. However, I have just tried to connect it for the first time in 2 weeks, and it is no longer working.
When I connect, the ASUS logo shows up on the monitor, but then the following pops up on my window. Clicking on it takes me to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4012609/windows-10-fix-usb-c-problems#connectionlimited
Here is the troubleshooting I have done.
- Plugged the portable monitor into another device (Andriod tablet) (using the same USB C - USB C cable). Monitor works
- Plugged the portable monitor into laptop using USB2 - USB C cable. Same problem as above.
Device manager
I've downloaded the drivers again (same version as I had installed previously) and tried to install them again. Nothing happens.
The only change I can think of is the windows updates I installed on my laptop last week (Feature update to Windows 10, version 1909).
Any suggestions?

2020-03-12T09:11:54+00:00 Hi crionsynx,
Thanks for your reply. I had already downloaded the drivers (which were the same version as I already had installed) and tried to install them, but they did nothing. I still get the code 28 error and message that the drivers aren't installed (see screenshot in my original post).
Thanks
Jane

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. I'm an Independent Advisor.
This is a device driver problem.
Have you downloaded and installed the latest version compatible with your device? Below is the link for the latest driver. Just choose Windows 10 64 bit
https://www.asus.com/Monitors/MB16AC/HelpDesk_D...
After installation restart the device and try connecting it again.
Hope the above helps.
