Hi PAC1HXL,
So are you saying that after you install FSX Deluxe (without Acceleration), the install was successful but it would only run for thirty minutes? If this is the case, then don't worry about the Acceleration pack at this point, you need to get FSX Deluxe activated.
The following is the usual fix to prompt the Activation screen to come up. Though at times it doesn't, but worth a try. You will need to go into your System Registry to make the change in a value, so take care that you open up the right keys and make the correct change. Or else, another program may be rendered useless. You may want to back up your Registry first. Do the following:
- Close FSX and run Registry Editor (press Windows key + R and type regedit and Ok). (If you want to back up the Registry first, then go into the File tab in the Reg Editor, then to Export. Save the .reg file to a suitable location). Then........
- Expand the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4d36e967-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318} The letters in this key could be in capitals and be careful to select the correct Key and Sub Key.
- After you find the Key, double-click Upperfilters on the right side.
- Change the value from 0 to PartMgr (note, this is case sensitive - type it as shown) and delete any other word that may be next to it and click OK.
5. Close Registry Editor and reboot Computer.
- Start FSX and check whether the Activation box comes up.
If you're able to get FSX activated, then take a flight or two to make sure that it runs for more than thirty minutes. After this, you can then attempt to install the Acceleration Pack; this too, may require you to insert its Product Key when asked.
