Did you click Open to open the file. Try using File Viewer. It's a free application for files such as the .xsd extension.

Is this a zip file? You can use 7Zip another free utility to unzip the file.

By default in Windows 10, if you double-click an XML file in File Explorer, it is displayed in a pretty print format (color-coded and indented) in Internet Explorer. However, although an XSD has essentially the same format as an XML file, double-clicking it produces the following popup.
I tried using the Windows Command Prompt's assoc command to allow it to be opened as an XML file by specifying:
assoc .xsd=xmlfile
but is still displayed the popup shown above. Is there an application I can use to open an XSD file so that it is pretty printed like XML?

No good. The popup shown above is what I get with Internet Explorer.
Thanks for the feedback. Glad you have an app to work with.
I was able to link it to Notepad++, but it just doesn't have the look and feel of the IE XML file format. However, I can live with it.
