Can't Reinstall OneDrive App

Anonymous

Good afternoon,

Hope you're well.

I recently experienced some issues with synchronisation on the OneDrive application.

I attempted to reinstall this and was met with the error message "OneDrive is already installed, please uninstall this before continuing".

I tried to remove this using the add or remove programs entry, however it would not remove from this list.

I also attempted to manually remove the installation from the hard drive, registry and using powershell script. I have tried advice given in various other threads on this forum but none of these have been successful.

This message continues to be displayed if I use the installer from the SysWow64 folder or a downloaded installer from the internet.

Please can someone advise me on how to proceed?

Many thanks for your time.

Best wishes,

Matthew

Try to return to a previous point.

    1.- Open Start.

2.- Search for Create a restore point, and click the top result to open the System Properties experience.

3.- Click the System Restore button.

    4.- Click the Next button.

5.- Select the restore point that you want to use on your computer.

6.- Click the Scan for affected programs button to understand the apps that will no longer be available because they're added after the creation of the restore point.

    7.- Click the Close button.

    8.- Click the Next button.

    9.- Click the Finish button.

    Hi, fletchable

My name is Jeffrey and I am an Independent Advisor. I would be happy to help you today.

Try to uninstall OneDrive and go back when you install it, it might be corrupt

    Try to completely uninstall OneDrive:

    1. Open Command Prompt in Administrator mode: Right-click on the Windows icon in the taskbar and select Command Prompt (Admin).
    2. Type in taskkill /f /im OneDrive.exe to terminate any OneDrive processes and hit Enter.

    Then type in either %SystemRoot%\System32\OneDriveSetup.exe /uninstall if you’re using 32-bit Windows 10 or %SystemRoot%\SysWOW64\OneDriveSetup.exe /uninstall if you’re using 64-bit Windows 10 and hit Enter.

After that restart the pc and install One Drive latest version from this link:

    Hi Jeffrey,

    Many thanks for your message.

I tried your instructions - OneDrive was already killed and the uninstall for 64bit ran.

I rebooted but it is still showing the same error message about already being installed.

    What would you advise next?

    Best wishes,

    Matthew
