    Hi ElaineWachtel,

It could be an issue with the facial recognition driver.

You may try to reset the driver by doing the following:

    1. press the Windows button
    2. search for Device Manager
    3. find Hello > Webcam then the Facial Recognition driver and right-click on it
    4. choose Remove Driver Software
    5. once it is done, restart your computer
    6. after the restart, open Device Manager again and click on your computer name.
    7. click Action > Scan for hardware changes

Your computer will then scan and reinstall drivers automatically.

Let me know if it helps!

    Hi Greg,

I can't turn off face recognition option because there is no button to remove it.  I was able to remove the fingerprint option.

How can I remove the option.  I have to pin option and want to keep it.

    Hi Aster,

I did what you suggested.  It worked, however the facial recognition logo is still there with a message, "Ut oh, something went wrong."

Then it takes a few seconds before the pin box comes up.  Is there any way to get rid of the facial recognition?  I tried doing it through settings, but the delete button is grayed out.

Hi Elaine. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 years Windows MVP, and Volunteer Moderator here to help you.

Go into Settings > Accounts > Sign in Options and remove Fingerprint and Facial Recognition from the Options list. Then add the PIN option.

To disable both biometric options in Group Policy or at the registry level if desired see here:
