Win 10 Pro with 64bit Operating System, and x64-based Processor and Program File ( x86 )?

Not sure how to explain this, as I have Win 10 Pro Version 1909 with 64-based-Processor but my Program File type is ( x86 ) instead of ( x64 )?

I've had my computer for over 5yrs now and when I get Updates they are always for a 64bit Operating System and not an 86bit Operating System. Is this a misprint in my Windows 10 files?

Do I need to do anything about it?

Hi George, glad to help . . .

Yes, that is correct, if you are manually downloading updates, you should always download and install the X64 versions, the X86 version will refuse to install anyway, you will get an error that the update is not applicable to your PC . .

    Hi George

Your system is setup correctly for a 64bit Windows operating system . . .

On your C drive, you have 2 folders, Program Files and program Files (x86)

The 64bit version of Windows can handle 64bit and 32bit applications, 64bit applications will be installed into Program Files and 32bit applications will be installed into the Program Files (x86) folder

Hi DaveM121 thanks again for the explanation regarding my system. I did not realise that this was normal in a x64 -based OS so now I know. So, during Win 10 Updates in my case, only the x64-based Updates appear and not the x86-based Updates? When I decided to download any missing Win 10 Updates by going to the Update Catalog online I should only select the x64-based Updates and not the x86-based updates?

Thanks so much for your reply and is greatly appreciated

    Regards

    George
