SD Card works on camera but Laptops wants me to format it every time I try to use the Card Reader in the laptop

I have a 128GB Samsung SD card for my camera

My windows 10 Laptop is Asus TP300LD

I used the SanDisk Adapter for the SD card and inserted this in the card reader slot in my laptop

Unfortunately, I seem to get an error every time I insert the adaptor (with the SD card) in my laptop. It asks me to format the drive.

My camera is however able to read the SD card when inserted

I formatted my SD card once, the laptop started reading the SD card (it was empty because of the formatting)

I used the SD card in my camera for 10 min and reinserted the card in the laptop

The laptop once again asked me to format the card. I don't wish to loose the data from the card once again.

Can someone please help on how can i fix this once n for all?

Thanks a bunch in advance!

Check what File Systems your Camera accepts first in it's manual/specifications if possible (maybe the manufacturers support site).

In my experience FAT32 is most likely expected and working for both Windows and your Camera.

RAW would mean unformatted regarding the media card (no File System on it yet).

(Right-click the media card in File Explorer, choose Format... from the Menu. Choose the File System in the Drop down list with File system and click the Start button.)

I've got the same problem and I simply ignore the prompt. The card is perfectly readable.

If i ignore the prompt windows tells me that the drive is not readable

When i ran the chkdsk function before formatting the card, it said the format is RAW , hence can’t be checked.

after formatting the chkdsk function says the format is exFAT but is still not readable 😕

How do i match the formats!?

If Windows says that your Card needs to be formatted it is possible that Windows is simply expecting an other File System now.

That's why it should ideally be formatted differently.

Check what File System you did use and if you can make it so that the Camera accepts it too (or ignore the prompt possibly if you only read from your card).
