Remote Desktop error

As of today, the remote desktop application generates an error when attempting to establish a connection to my workstation. The application was working fine last night.

When I click "connect", the application returns "An internal error has occurred".

Hello faraz240, I'm Didi, an independent advisor.

To fix Remote Desktop "An internal error has occurred" error try the procedures given in this tutorial : https://www.kapilarya.com/fixing-remote-desktop...

If it doesn't work go to your Documents folder, make sure you have enabled the option to see hidden files and delete the "Default.rdp" file.

Empty your recycle bin, restart your computer and check if the issue is fixed.

    Regards,

    Didi

    Hello Faraz,

I am Jaspreet Singh an independent advisor.

Have you tried restarting the Remote Desktop service?

If not please follow these steps

Press “Windows” + “R” to open Run prompt.

Type in “services.msc” and press “Enter“.

Double click on “Remote Desktop Service” and click on “Stop”.

Click on “Start” after waiting for at least 5 seconds.

Check to see if the issue persists

    Didi,

    Thanks for the quick reply.

The tutorial provides instructions on how to connect a windows machine with other types of devices.

There is also a section on how to enable an RD connection to my machine.

However, my problem is using my machine to connect to another windows machine on a company's network through a VPN.

I've also tried removing the Default.rdp file and there was no change after a restart.

FYI I am using Windows 10 Home Edition.

    Faraz
