You have two choices:

  1. Buy an  external CD drive--one that plugs into a USB port.
  2. Use a friend's computer to copy the CD to an device you can use on your laptop--an external hard drive or a thumb drive.

I recommend choice number 1, since it gives you the ability to do this again in the future.

CD/DVD are old technologies and nowadays , normally applications would be downloaded. For example, you could install Windows 10 by boot from USB or download it on older version of Windows.

You may look for download option for the program or use external CD/DVD player which could be connect to USB.

    Hi James,

    I’m Rey, your Independent Advisor.

I understand you want to transfer the files from CD to the new laptop with no cd drive. Let's work on this.

The best thing to do is to copy the files from the cd disc to USB flash drive.

Step 1: Copying files from CD/DVD

    1. Insert the software CD into a computer with CD/DVD drive.
    2. Open the CD/DVD drive.
    3. Select all files and folders, then right-click and select Copy.

NOTE: If a window appears with a prompt stating "There are hidden files or folders. Would you like to include these in your selection?", click OK.

    1. Insert a USB thumb drive into a USB port on the computer that has a CD/DVD drive.

If an AutoPlay window appears, click Open folder to view files and then select OK.

If an AutoPlay window does not appear, open the USB thumb drive by clicking Start, Computer or My Computer, and then double-clicking the corresponding drive.

    1. Create a new folder on the USB thumb drive by right-clicking a blank area within the window and selecting New and then Folder. Name the new folder the name of the software.
    2. Double-click the new folder to open it. Right-click within the folder and select Paste.
    3. When the file transfer is complete, close the window and remove the USB thumb drive from the computer.

Step 2: Transfer files to Computer without CD/DVD drive using USB thumb drive

    1. Insert the USB thumb drive into a USB port on the computer that does not have a CD/DVD drive.

If an AutoPlay window appears, click Open folder to view files and then select OK.

If an AutoPlay window does not appear, open the USB thumb drive by clicking Start, Computer or My Computer, and then double-clicking the corresponding drive.

    1. Right-click the software folder and select Copy.
    2. Right-click on a blank area of the desktop and select Paste.
    3. When the file transfer is complete, double-click the software folder on the desktop to open it.
    4. Locate a launch file (example: Setup.exe, Start.exe, Install.exe, Start.exe, or similar.
    5. Double-click the file to open and follow the instructions on screen.

Let me know if this helps, if not, let's find another way.

If you don't have a USB flash drive, then you may use the step one, and copy the files to online storage in which there's free storage on Onedrive.com which is this is a Microsoft account and Google drive for google.

I believe that these steps will help you solve this issue you have. If not, kindly contact me and let me know.
