I am trying to install Windows 10 from a DVD and it isn't working. It's as if my computer isn't recognizing that there is even a DVD. I have tried everything I know to get this to work! Help!!! I have followed all of the instructions and nothing works. My computer will not reboot from the DVD. If I go to the Start menu, Windows DVD does not show up as a selection. What am I missing?

    Hi Carol

If you want to clean install Windows 10 from that DVD, you must backup your data, then shut your PC down and boot into BIOS to change the boot order, so your PC boots form that DVD

if you want to upgrade your PC form that DVD, open File Explorer, then double click the DVD drive and run Setup.exe form that Disk, then choose the Upgrade option . .

I did not create the DVD myself. Bought it online for $105..... I am going to give up for today in case I decide to throw it out the front door. Thanks for your help Dave. I'll let you know if I figure it out. I never could get to the files on the DVD. I have loaded lots of programs before. Maybe my DVD player is not working correctly? Didn't have much luck changing my boot order either. I tried but was too afraid of really screwing something up.

    Hi Carol

Did you create that DVD yourself and if so, is that a dual layer DVD?

Instead of double clicking that DVD, in File Explorer, in the left pang, click that drive, then on the right, can you see the files on that disk?

If not, that disk may not have been created correctly . .

To boot your PC into BIOS:

Start your PC, then repeatedly press the F2 key on your keyboard on the manufacturers logo screen. If the F2 key does not work for you, try F10, F12 or the Del key . . .

Then once you are in BIOS, you need to change the boot order, so your PC boots form that DVD . . .

I have an external hard drive that everything is automatically backed up to. If I double click the DVD drive, it ejects the DVD. So I can't get to the setup.exe.  I don't know how to boot into BIOS to change the boot order.......
