OneDrive can I delete desktop

I  have two W10 laptops (both version 1909) and I use OneDrive.

Is there a way to de-synch my desktop.

In other words, there are files I want on one desktop, but not on the other.

(Note: right-clicking the file and choosing to keep on this device does not do the trick. If I delete it from my second computer's desktop, it gets deleted from the first computer's desktop! I would prefer not having the desktops synching at all, but I can't seem to do that.

Hi Compiler. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 year Windows MVP, and Volunteer Moderator here to help you.

OneDrive introduced some features recently that were set as default for some users without their knowledge, so be aware and adjust as necessary:

If the new Backup/Folder Protection is chosen in OneDrive Settings > Backup Tab, then Documents, Desktop and/or Pictures folders will be moved into the OneDrive folder. See Folder Protection details here to change this or read more:

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/116029-turn...

You can remove the Desktop folder from Sync if you don't want it included. You can include any other User folder besides Documents and Pictures by moving them into the OneDrive folder from their right click Properties box > Location tab: http://www.dummies.com/computers/operating-syst...

Another setting designed for smaller hard drives removes files from the hard drive and stores them only in the cloud if Files On Demand is chosen in OneDrive Settings. This feature is described here:

    https://www.pcworld.com/article/3233488/windows...

If you have Files on Demand enabled then be sure to disable it first and allow it to download all files to PC before also disabling any Folder Protection Backups.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
