Context menu corrupted. How to get rid of that annoying "Emoji" in the Windows 10 Edge context menu? Edge installation problem.

Update:  2020/04/07. With the help of a Microsoft engineer using remote services, I was able to discover that the problem was the installation of the new Edge on Mar 26th. The engineer was not able to fix the problem (MS utilities would not run due to errors). MS Edge would not uninstall. I managed to get a restore point to work and uninstalled MS Edge. Once uninstalled, the context menu corruption stopped. I am using IE 11 and all is well. I am not willing to try Edge again for a very long time, as this problem caused a lot of grief over the last two weeks.

Note: The context menu was corrupted for Edge browser, Opera browser, and File Explorer (could not create new file, would create a shortcut instead)

Hi Dscullyman and thanks for reaching out. My name is Joseph. I'm an independent advisor. I'll be happy to help you out today.

I would suggest you refer to the below steps and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

    1. Open Regedit.
    2. Navigate to,

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Input\Settings\proc_1\loc_0409\im_1

    1. Search for EmojiSuggestion [REG_DWORD].
    2. Right-click and click on 'Modify'.
    3. Change the value to '0'.
    4. Click OK.
    5. Check to see whether or not the problem has been resolved.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let me know how it goes.

    Thank you!

Doesn't come from Windows 10.  There's no 'Command' key on a Windows keyboard.

The Emoji menu item is from Chrome.

Odd, yes. Did come from Win 10. Shows up in Edge, Opera, or Feedback hub. Again, I am wondering why this is showing up in a WIN 10 context sensitive menu when I right ![](https://learn-attachment.microsoft.com/api/attachments/98573c0e-5bc5-4d5b-9d52-d66e361a6a72?platform=QnA

BTW, I also tried with SellExView. I wasn't successful.

This one is not even close. The emoji line in the context sensitive menu is independent of browser. I checked in Edge as well as Opera.

I tried disabling all three of the "emoji" DWORDs in local 409 as well as other languages (where there are only two). Nothing works.

    Thanks for the reponse.
