Mozilla Firefox Freezes the whole System

Hi,

I use Mozilla Firefox as my default browser (years of bookmarks stored on it) Lately and for no reason and randomly when I launch it it doesn't start and freezes the whole system. The HDD led on my PC stays solid lit, the only thing responsive is my mouse. I have to hard reset and after reboot Windows takes long time to load, show the picture and even after entering my password it take a while to log me in. Checking PERFMON / rel the only error recorded is "Windows was not properly shutdown" nothing related to an application failed.

I tried reinstalling the application but I don't see a difference and only happens when launching Firefox.

Please advise.

Thank you.

    Hello,

I'm your Independent Advisor for today. I know this can be frustrating, but don't worry. I'm here to figure this out for you.

Please start the PC in a clean boot state to check if there are other background apps which might be causing the issue:

    1. Right-click the Windows button > Select Run
    2. Type in "msconfig" without the quotes, then click OK.
    3. On the General tab, select Selective Startup. Then untick "Load startup items".
    4. On the Services tab, click "Hide all Microsoft services".
    5. Click "Disable all".
    6. On the Startup tab, click "Open Task Manager". A Task Manager window should open.
    7. Disable all startup items. You can also choose which startup items to disable, as certain devices might now work properly if the startup item related to it is disabled.
    8. Go back to your System Configuration window.
    9. Click Apply > OK
    10. Click "Restart" when prompted.

Once the PC goes back up, check if it will resolve the issue.

You can also check if the same issue happens when using another browser, like Edge or Internet Explorer.

    Please reply whatever the results.

    Disabled non Microsoft processes.

Running a couple of days with no issue until today.

One more time, after trying to launch Firefox system hang.

The only application that was running at that moment was Steam and a pause game (Rocksmith)

After reboot I went to Event Viewer:

Windows Logs Application > Error 1002 Application Hang

The program firefox.exe version 75.0.0.7398 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel.
