Remove Windows Lockscreen Password Sign-in

hello, I just want to ask on how can I remove the lock screen sign in when my pc wakes from sleep. I had no choice but to make one because windows requires me to create the time I reinstalled windows, but now I cannot remove it. This one probably came from the update to require sign in because before I updated this one or the first time I had my laptop, there was no sign in whatsoever. now, I don't want to uninstall updates though I would like to find another ways to remove the sign-in feature because the laptop I am using is a family computer and as much as possible I don't want any complications for them using this.

I searched in youtube on how to remove it. I found a solution that I thought would solve my problem, but the next boot, when my pc wakes from sleep, it required signing in. I deleted the windows defender with the policy manager at the registry editor before and adjusted the settings in sign in options to "Never" (it was greyed out unable to toggle require sign in when pc wakes from sleep) and the problem still persists. the require sign-in toggle buttons was greyed out again and says it is Security Policies that is preventing me from changing the setting. I would suggest though I don't know how to disable a setting in Local Security Policy, that might be the solution though I don't know which one I will disable. or maybe in the Local Group Policy Editor. hoping someone would help, thank you in advance!

    Hi Jigknot

Click your Start Button, type netplwiz and hit Enter

In the resulting dialog, uncheck the option 'Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer box'

Provide your full login details (Email . etc)

    Click OK

If the above does not work for you:

    Open the Settings App

Go to Accounts - Sign-in Options

Choose to sign in with a local account

(in newer versions of Windows 10, this might be on the Your Info Settings Page)

Enter your old password and leave the new password box blank

    Close the Settings App

hello, it was not asking for my old password rather, it wants to set up a new password in which I ignored but this happened

    Hi Jigknot

There is a working solution posted to the thread below, the solution posted by Edw1354, is hard to find on that thread, so, I have posted it below . . .

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

    QUOTE:

"I found a solution to this problem that has worked for me (when ALL other solutions didn't). I'm on Win10 Home so can't edit group policy.

First, restore local security policy to defaults (as here, follow instructions for Windows 10: https://www.top-password.com/blog/reset-local-s... ).

Second, to be sure, delete the EAS (exchange activesync) security settings by editing the registry. Hit Windows-R, type regedit, hit enter, accept UAC, navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\EAS. Right click on the registry key, select delete, hit enter. Exit registry editor and

    Third, reboot your machine.

After reboot, you will need to change two settings. A. hit windows-R, type netplwiz and hit enter. Untick the box in the pop-up that says 'Users must enter a password'. Hit enter. You might be asked to enter your password. If so, enter it.

    B. Click on Start/Cortana and type sign-in options and choose Sign-In Options system settings. In the pop-up box, make sure it says 'Never' under the Sign-In Options / Require Sign-In. Close.

Reboot again and your machine should start without needing you to log-in"

Thank you so much!! I thought this will be the last resort because I've done lots of research already. I thought no one's going to reply this one until you came. I have tried some of your procedure once but the difference of what I did is, I deleted the EAC in the registry editor as I have said earlier. I did not restore the local security policy to default though. then after that, the netplwiz tick box showed up so I checked it and it automatically set to "never" in sign in options. I have rebooted and the first reboot was successful. the next day of reboot came back to the problem again.

I was a bit skeptical about the procedure you gave but to make sure I won't be asked again, I immediately changed the password just like the procedure you said earlier. I changed it to none so I was notified that there was no password so it was a success, I also deleted the pin password so there's no more password typing at the wake up of pc. the tick box was also present at last in netplwiz and sign-in option was not greyed out. it was also set to "never".

thank you for your patience, It was a full suspense to me because I have been finding solutions for like months already or weeks. I hope you'll still keep on helping people in need of technical problems. you rock!

I wonder why my sign in options says "Authentication is required when this PC wakes from sleep. Security policies on this PC are preventing you from changing this setting." the buttons are greyed out too.

can you recommend some tweaks in gpedit.msc? thank you
