When you do this then Windows will most likely crash. Images are not really transferrable to different hardware.
Hi les137
if yo use that image form another PC, and that is successful, then yes, Windows 10 is remarkably adaptable to new hardware and should install a full set of device drivers.
Though you may run into other difficulties like Windows 10 activation, was Windows 10 ever installed and activated on the destination PC previously and if so, was that the same edition (Home, Pro . . .etc) as is on that image?
My question is hypothetical. I am supporting a small business which has one desktop machine and four laptops using shared folders on the desktop machine and I worry if the main machine fails and a new one is put in its place. So the answer would be no to your question unless the new one comes with Windows of the same edition, i.e. home or pro. What do you mean by "successful"?
Do you mean if the backup is successful or if the restore is successful? If the latter, surely it will only be successful if all drivers for the new machine are installed.

No ... at least, not unless your image application can do a 'hardware independent restore' where the application installs generic drivers for the most critical hardware. Otherwise, the destination partition is simply over-written.
