I don't have Cortana on my Windows 10

Hi, I have recently just discovered that the Cortana service is not on my Windows 10 laptop. My laptop is quite old and it originally came with Windows 7, but I have had it updated to Windows 10. I am just curious about whether it is a technical issue or if there is a reason why I can't use it and if I'll be able to fix this problem.

I am currently living in Ireland.

My laptop build number is 18362.778.

I hope you can help,

Adam

    Hi Glen,

Unfortunately, I don't think I have gpedit.msc installed. Are there any other ways of enabling Cortana?

    Thanks,

    Adam

    Hi GlenGapasen,

    Thanks for your reply,

I have made it to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows on my registry editor, and I have checked to make sure that I am running it as an administrator, but there is no WindowsSearch option under that folder. Do you have any advice as to how I might be able to find this option?

    Hi Adam,

    So sorry for the inconvenience,

Let me try to solve your problem. Please follow these steps:

First thing to do. Open the RUN window simply pressing on your keyboard windows key + R.

And then, Type regedit to the text box and press ENTER.

In the Registry Editor window, navigate to the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsSearch.

And then, Double-click the AllowCortana key and change its value data to 1. This can tell Windows to enable Cortana. Press OK

And then, Exit Registry Editor and restart your computer.

Give some feedback about the result.

    Hope it will help.

    Thank you.
