Realtek HD Audio Manager

Hi

I have a Win10 desktop running 1909 v18363.752 and an ASUS F2A85-M motherboard with on board Realtek® ALC887 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC. The motherboard was original being used for Win 7.

The other details are

Cambridge Sound works 5 speakers ONBOARD 8 CHANNEL (7.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)

The desktop tower has a green connector and a black connector for the sound on the motherboard and with the supplied lead (2x green and 2 x black jacks)I have put one set of ends into tower motherboard connections in the respective jacks and one set into the subwoofer black and green jacks. I have ran a speaker test from within the configure area of sounds in Win10 and on the 7.1 speaker setting I hear from all speakersbut when listening to internet radio, cd from built in cd drive I only hear from 2 speakers (satellites and subwoofer but if i unplug the BLACK Jack connector from the subwoofer I get all 5 speakers working (4 satellite and subwoofer). This is a strange one and has me baffled.  I would normally leave Win10 to install appropriate drivers but it seems they are well out of date so I have used a driver checker and they are now updated to best available.

Any help welcome. I have checked the double ended lead and it is working and nothing is greyed out on the Realtek Audio Manager to suggest any issues.

Thanks

Steve

Do you have a 4.1 system (4 satellite speakers + subwoofer) or a 5.1 system (5 satellite speakers + subwoofer)?

If you have a 4.1 system, set it to quad. It is normal behavior to have internet radio and music cd to output to the front 2 speakers only --- because the SOURCE is stereo.

If you want a stereo music cd to output to all four satellite speakers, you have to enable "speaker fill" in the realtek driver.

    Hi Paul

I have tried this route before posting my issue but thank you for quick reply.

Basically, If I plug the black connection on the lead in for sound it takes out 2 speakers and if i leave the connection unplugged I get the 5 speakers working. The lead is not faulty and since the test sounds come through all speakers when testing I am not sure what is wrong or how to solve it.

The speakers are not moved at all so the cables are unlikely to be the issue. I did reinstall the drivers and the Realtek HD Audio Manager might not be the latest for Win 10.  I could wait to see if a complete reinstall might solve the issues when the next update is out soon but I am not convinced since the drivers are generic from Microsoft. I am at least trying to keep the drivers updated. Maybe I need to get motherboard drivers from Asus but the board is old

    Cheers

    Steve

    Hello

    Thank you for your reply.

I have had the use of 4 speakers previously and the black connection was always connected in the subwoofer and the other end into the pc tower connections. I have lost 2 speakers if I plug both ends in and get 4 speakers output if i leave the black connector unplugged. There is something wrong but I can't figure it out.

Internet radio and music cd's are stereos sources, of course they will only output in the 2 speakers.

You have 5 speakers, why would you enable 7.1.

    Your setup has me baffled.
