Night Light (blue light filter) Not Working (Windows 10)

I have windows 10 and the app "night light" will not work anymore. it hasn't for a few weeks now. I am able to toggle it on and off and adjust the strength slider but no changes happen and it doesn't add the warm hue to my display at all. I've even tried to download a blue light filter app from the app store but this will not work either. Again all the sliders and buttons move and turn on like they should be doing something but no change happens to my display. I would really like to figure this out as the blue light is harsh and strains my eyes and gives me headaches.

Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand your concern as you are unable to use the Night Light feature in Windows 10. In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below.

  • What is the Windows 10 version and Build installed? (Type winver in Windows search/Run command)
  • Are you aware of any changes recently on this PC, prior to this issue?

Meanwhile, we would like you to use these steps to reset the Night light settings using the registry to fix the problem.

  1. Press Windows + R key to launch Run command, then type regedit and click OK.
  2. Navigate to this location: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\CloudStore\Store\DefaultAccount\Cloud
  3. Inside the “Cloud” (folder) key, right-click and delete the following two keys (folders):
    • $$windows.data.bluelightreduction.bluelightreductionstate
    • $$windows.data.bluelightreduction.settings
  4. Restart your computer and then check.

Let us know how it goes.

I also have the same problem and tried the suggested solution to no avail. The problem with the night light not working arose right after an update to Windows 10 was completed on my computer. I have version 1909 (OS build 18363.657. Please let us know how this can be fixed.
