The icon next to the epub file only indicates what application is being used on that computer to read or access it. If you will send it to someone, it will still show up as a digital read but the icon would depend on what application he or she has to open the epub file.
How do I revert an ePub doc "converted" to Windows Media Player, back to ePub?
I have an ePub document (I'm the author of the book/doc) that I tried to open, but I was given limited options: Windows Media Player, Wordpad, Paint, etc. to do so. I don't remember this happening before. I thought it just automatically opened into a readable digital file format. The choices given are not ebook friendly, but I tried them anyway. Now, my doc extension reads, Windows Media Player, instead of ePub. What to do?
Thanks ~

2020-04-08T22:54:54+00:00 Hi Elda,
This is Wil, one of the independent advisor, an expert with Windows 10 and a fellow Windows 10 user like you. I understand your concern about opening ePub documents.
This is actually a file association issue wherein your ePub documents are set by default to open in Windows Media Player. You would need to right-click on an ePub document and click on Properties. Click on the "Change" and then click on "More Apps". Look for an application that would be able to read ePub documents such as Reader or Adobe Reader. If there's none, you would need to download an ePub reader application on the Microsoft Store app.
I hope my suggestions help you. If you need further assistance please do reply back and I will respond as quickly as possible. Have a nice day.
Thanks,
Wilfred P.

2020-04-09T16:35:06+00:00 Hi Wil,
I appreciate your prompt reply.
The ePub file didn't open with a default app. There wasn't a default app automatically attached. I had to choose one, so I experimented with Wordpad (nothing but gibberish), then Media Player (nothing shows up, for good reason). I don't recall having to choose an app to open this particular file before. It would automatically come up as a digital read, no app necessary. Although I have a different computer now, which may or may not make a difference.
I tried your method of changing the file back to epub, it worked. Thanks! Nook is now the default. The Nook icon is listed next to this doc whereas originally it was another visual. That concerns me. I liked having this doc in its original version. My question now is: If I send it to someone will it show up as a digital read?
I hope this isn't confusing.
