Hello all,

Can you help me this problem on my ideapad S145-15AST?

After i installed windows 7 ultimate 64 bit,my touchpad isn't recognized by the OS.

All driver's for other hardware and devices on my ideapad are identified and working very well on OS

windows 7 64 bit.

I tried a lot of driver's for this issue, and scanned with all kinds of software for identifying this driver for this touchpad and they not found 😔.

I'm tired from searching and updating and installing a lot of driver's for this device.

At first the touchpad identifying as Elan or Synaptics,i have tried about 20 different driver's, and re installed it.

I have updated the bios .and run diagnostics on the Lenovo support page, and Lenovo is telling me that i sm up to date.

Only i get identifying maybe by a small tool on windows 7 that it call Msinfo32.exe and he detect it like i attached on screenshots.

I was installed this OS Windows 7 because my wife cannot handle with windows 10...and she not wants this on her ideapad...she only wants windows 7 ...🤷‍♂

As I mentioned earlier, "attached" screenshots do not display here.  I did see your screenshots with your post in the Lenovo forum, but they don't really add to your explanation:  "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)" and you've said that the "Details" (פרטים) tab indicates that it's an Elan device.

Whether you purchased your Ideapad with or without an operating system isn't really the point.  The point is that Lenovo designed this computer for Windows 10 and there are apparently no drivers for the touchpad for older operating systems.

It is possible, of course, that drivers for Elan touchpads installed on other computers that had Windows 7 might work for your computer.  That's why I suggested that Dell driver.  However, if you have already tried about 20 different drivers without success, perhaps Lenovo has installed a newer model of Elan touchpad that doesn't work with the older drivers.

As you have probably seen when you've searched for a Windows 7 driver, you are not the only one who can't find a Windows 7 driver for this touchpad.  Rather than continuing your quest, you should just buy an external mouse, either USB, wireless, or Bluetooth.  These are readily available and not very expensive.  For example:  https://www.amazon.com/s?k=wireless+mouse

Computer and device manufacturers often don't supply drivers for older operating systems.  This seems to be the case for the touchpad on the Lenovo Ideapad S145-15AST, which came with Windows 10 preinstalled.

Your screenshots did not appear.  The forum software only permits images to be added by using the "Insert Image" icon in the toolbar:

If you've tried "about 20 different drivers," you've probably tried this one already -- but there's no guarantee that it will work, because it's for a Dell Vostro rather than a Lenovo computer:  https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=12ng7

If running that Dell download in the normal way doesn't work, you can attempt to bypass the Dell-specific portions of the package as follows (but there's no guarantee that this will work, either):

    1. Use an archiver tool such as 7-zip (https://www.7-zip.org/) to extract the x64 folder
    2. Open Device Manager, find the entry for the touchpad -- this will likely show with a yellow warning icon
    3. If the "Driver" tab isn't already selected, select that tab and then click "Update Driver"
    4. Click "Browse my computer for driver software"
    5. Click the "Browse" button and navigate to the x64 folder that you extracted in step 1
    6. Click OK and then click Next
    7. Select ETD.inf
    8. Click Finish and then restart the computer

    *******************************************************************************************

The simplest solution that is guaranteed to work is to buy an external mouse, either USB, wireless, or Bluetooth.  These are readily available and not very expensive.  For example:  https://www.amazon.com/s?k=wireless+mouse

    Dear friend LemP,

Thank you so much for your fast answer and respond🥇 First i bought this ideapad S145-15AST 81N3004PIV without OS on it,only Dos system. I know that this ideapad has designed only for Windows 10 64 bit system.  I installed Windows 7 64 bit system  and i found and installed all driver's and the OS is working very well 👌and it's  surprised me so much how it's running very fast and stable . I attached screenshots, you can see that the driver is unknown, but if i opened details tab is shown Elan and ect.. Where can i find driver's of Elan to touchpad, if you have a link please for a site that contains driver's for all driver's hardware for older OS? Thank you🙏 very much  again, and i really appreciate your support 🥇.

Be sure  that,I will check  this driver and update here if helped of not.

    I'm waiting for your response.

    Best regards,

    Yehuda.
