How to re-install corrupted Windows 10 while keeping files and installed programs intact? My computer can’t boot

So I ran into some issue and I don’t know what went wrong with my laptop. Now my computer won’t start and it is stuck in an automatic repair loop.

I tried everything but I can’t solve the issue. Now I’d like to re-install Windows 10 to my computer.

I’ve downloaded the latest Windows 10 .iso image from this site.

Now I would like to re-install Windows 10 but I want to retain all my programs installed in ProgramFiles and ProgramFiles x86 folder and also the data in users folder.

Please help me, How do I keep all my programs and Files intact while performing a new Windows installation?

Or can I repair or do something with the new .iso image so that Windows starts booting again and all issues get solved without a fresh installation?

    Hi Prakhar

Have you created a USB drive form that downloaded ISO file?

If so, boot your PC up form that USB by changing the boot order in BIOS

When that starts up, instead of installing Windows 10, choose 'Repair this Computer'

That will bring you to the the Recovery Environment form the USB, then try each option from there.

Please Note, resetting Windows 10 form there, will allow you to keep your personal files, but not installed Applications

If none of the options work from there, boot from that USB again, do you get the option to upgrade Windows 10, if so, that should keep all your personal files and applications

If none of the above resolves this problem, then the only option is a clean install of Windows 10 and that will not retain your applications or personal data . . .

    Hello Prakhar

The folders which get saved to Windows.Old are your personal folders from your user profile, those are Documents, Pictures, Music, Videos . . .etc.

    Hello Prakhar

The only data which will be preserved is your personal files, all games, and applications will need to be re-installed, they will not be saved to Windows.Old

    Hello Prakhar

No, that wont work, because when you install software on your PC, files are created in many folders, not just in Program Files and also a lot of registry entries are created, you cannot replicate that manually, the software would need to be re-installed, otherwise Windows will not know it is installed . . .

Thankyou, but what if I copy my program files folders to user folder and then reset? Would it also preserve my applications in the Windows.old folder after installation so that later I can again copy my program files folder back to original location?
