Microsoft .Net Framework 4.6.2 and higher

Hello, I am running Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1. I have an application that requires Microsoft .Net Framework 4.6.2 or higher; I have 4.6.1 installed. When I attempt to install 4.6.2 or higher, the installation is not successful. A window appears with the title "Microsoft .Net 2015" and the message appears ".Net Framework 4.6.2 has not been installed because: A certificate chain processed, but terminated in a root certificate which is not trusted by the trust provider." All my attempts to resolve the issue have been unsuccessful. The window has a log file, when I access it "Final Result: Installation failed with error code: (0x800B0109), "A certificate chain processed, but terminated in a root certificate which is not trusted by the trust provider. " (Elapsed time: 0 00:02:47)." I attempted to repair the .Net Framework in "Programs and Features" but I've had no success. I searched the error (0x800B0109) and found a question from 2018 and I ran the command "sfc /scannow" as recommended. Some files were found corrupt but were repaired. I restarted the computer and attempted the installation of 4.6.2 but still no success.

Can anyone assist with resolving this?

Apparently the site where I found those steps was not quite correct.  Certmgr.exe is included with some developer tool kits, but not in a "stock" Windows 7 system.  There is, however, a graphical counterpart that should be there.

Click Start, type mmc.exe in the Search box, right-click the shortcut for mmc.exe, and select "Run as administrator."  Respond as needed to the UAC prompt.  This will open the Microsoft Management Console.

    Click File > Add/Remove Snap-in

Select "Certificates" and click the "Add" button

Select "Computer account" click Next, ,then click Finish, then click OK.

In the left pane, click Certificates, click "Trusted Root Certification Authorities," and click Certificates

Click Action > All Tasks > Import to open the Certificate Import Wizard

Click Next, then browse to the location where you had saved the downloaded certificate.

Complete the wizard, allowing the wizard to select the proper place to put it.

I have the EXACT same problem!  How can I install the required framework version (which is supposed to support Win7!)

BTW, I tried the link and it gave the same message.

I know this is a volunteer based website, but I just registered to say: someone should give you a raise.
