Asus Stuck on boot loop (probably boot record corrupted)

Hi, I have a big problem with my Asus Rog GL503VM (windows 10):

today I opened my pc to clean it from dust, and after the process it is stuck on the logo/ or in the automatic repair tool.

I am sure that everything is connected, in fact in the bios I can see all my hardweres listed, and I tried to reinstall windows with a bootable usb (tested on another pc to see if it works ) but it is still stuck, even if I change the boot priority.

I don’t know why but I can’t access to the Repair Environment, i tried every way to do it (holding f8, rebooting 3 times, ecc...) but with no results.

Maybe the pc was in sleep mode when I disconnected the drive to clean it, but I am not sure. Anyway I don’t know what to do... can someone help me?

thank you

    Hi,

Try using Boot Options at the ASUS screen to select the flash drive...

Usually something like F9, F11, F12, ESC... You may need to determine whether your machine is using UEFI Bios or Legacy to make the appropriate selection in Boot Options.. The flash drive should be listed twice..

What may have happened is that your boot drive may have been corrupted when you disconnected power..

Windows 10 has a feature called Fast Startup that can cause stuff like that.. I always make sure to turn it off if I intend to remove power from my machine and\or remove a drive..

This feature only works when you do a SHUTDOWN and then Boot.

    It doesn't effect a RESTART.

To turn it off or on...

Go to Control panel...Power Options, and select Choose What the Power Buttons Do on the left.

Then select Change Settings That Are Currently Unavailable near the top center of screen...

Lower down on the window, uncheck Fast Startup.

Yeah sorry, the third item on the list was the setup to return to the bios.

Ok thank you, I’ll try this tomorrow and I’ll let you know

    Hi,

I can't tell if there are two listings or three.. I would suspect that your machine is using UEFI Bios..

That is pretty much the normal with newer machines...

You might try remaking your flash drive using a free tool called RUFUS and specifically create it for UEFI...

The settings you would want is the GPT... Everything else will set itself when that is selected...

You might also check in your BIOS for a "Fast Boot" setting... Under some conditions this can prevent booting from a USB device..

Thank you for your reply, this is useful to know.

I already tried to use Asus Boot Option with ESC, and selected the usb drive but still looped.

Anyway this is what I see

If I enable CSM support on bios I can see the usb twice, but both won’t work...
